Clifton Mill Christmas Lights

For anyone that hasn’t seen the Clifton Mill Christmas light display yet, do check it out. With over 3,000,000 Christmas lights, a massive miniature display, a 3,000+ collection of Santa Claus dolls and figures, it is well worth the $10 weekend admission fee.

Clifton Mill is an actual working, historic mill that was established in 1802 along the Little Miami River just south of Springfield on Route 72 in the small town of Clifton (boyhood home of Coach Woody Hayes). The mill is open year-round, but the light show only goes from Thanksgiving to January 1 from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. There is also a small restaurant and gift shop and every hour, on the hour, the continuous lit Christmas lights are shut down for an animated light and music show that runs about 8 minutes.

Things can get a bit muddy in the parking area, especially with the rains we’ve been having, but the rest of the pathways are nicely graveled.

The Clifton Mill Christmas lights date back to 1988 when Tony Satariano, Sr. who had always been a big Christmas fan, and his son and shared his father’s passion for the holidays, decided to start decorating their homes. The displays look so nice, they decided to expand it to include the mill. That’s when people really started taking notice. Today the event is now one of the nation’s largest holiday decorations of its kind. Tony Sr. passed away this year, but his son is planning on continuing the tradition that has become part of the Ohio Holiday tradition.
